Our mission is to promote a healthy lifestyle through cycling in Arizona. We strive to provide a friendly social environment in the cycling community. We are committed to the spirit of competition, camaraderie, integrity, and sportsmanship. We pledge to respect the laws of the road, our community, and our environment. We will represent our sponsors proudly and respectfully.
Our short term goal is to develop a group of riders into a respected and competitive club and advocate community service through leading by example, such as roadside clean-up, trail maintenance, "sponsor a highway" programs, and volunteering. Our mid-range goal is to organize and promote at least one local cycling event a year, to support other cycling events (USCF and Non-USCF), and help finance any other cycling related events. Our long range goal is to be one of the most recognized clubs in Arizona. Our ultimate goal is to field a team of riders that are able to compete at the highest level of elite racing.
Old Pueblo Velo is a non-profit cycling club founded by a group of cyclists with the same philosophy. The philosophy of being a part of a team or club should mean something and not just a jersey number, where team chemistry is the focus and politics are absent.
We began cycling for the love of the sport. We race for the love of competition. We believe that the team is greater than the sum of its individual riders and every rider is equal; Each person plays a role in the end result... the team result.
The riders attracted to this approach joined based on common ground and values of selfless commitment, dedication, integrity, teamwork and the simple enjoyment of riding a bike.
